ah yes, other than the obvious. After reading the thread Things to do in LA, I thought I would ask

Looking for car related fun I am renting a Hertz 'Vette ragtop for our trip there next month 5/18 -5/22 The wife and I .. already have show tickets and plans for the evenings, But are there any MUST See's for a GRM fan?

I know of the Imperial Museum..

Any cool drives ( where I might stretch the Vette's legs )?

Cool shops that I might visit?

Thanks in advance Anyone coming to Ohio, just ask here.

Stay in your room, read the bible in the nightstand. I've heard all kinds of awful terrible things can happen there.

If you go about 30 minutes north of the outskirts of Vegas, there is a road that takes you into the mountains. We ended up climbing a ridiculous amount of altitude, and ended up at a nice park. It actually got cold up there! I'll try and find the actual route.

There's a place that rents rock crawlers and guides you on some pretty sweet off roading. I don't remember the name, but if it interests you I can try to find it.

LVMS is pretty cool, Shelby's factory is there along with a small museum. Also, if GM still has their Performance Driving event going on, that might be fun to try. Basically off-roading in a Hummer and autocrossing in a Vette.

Checking out Hoover Dam is pretty cool. The road up and back is pretty entertaining as well.

Also going to the top of the tower at Paris Paris is kinda fun, if heights don't make you queezy. This is especially true when the fountain at the Bellagio goes off.

all good sugestions.. Hoover Dam was cool before 9-11 I hear they have chopped the "hard hat tour "

I took the kids on it in 1997 and we went EVERY Where even sat in on a retirement party!

Looking for drives and car places

We went to the Smokies last spring and the Dragon's Tail made the whole weekend! Love to find something like that in the desert / mountains

I need to plan a batchelor party for my brother next month in columbus.(yeah, running out of time)

I went to highschool up by Polaris and went to OSU for a year and a half, but I am reaching trying to come up with ideas. (I moved away in 2005, bro lives in the 71/161 area)

    thoughts?

want to get this done on a budget (he was never all that nice to me) I have looked into ordering in a stripper to his house (who knew you could get a full nude stripper to your door for an hour for $200?!?!) but my GF would murder me on that one (she has a blackbelt)

I am less than 2 miles from 71/161 being a college town, there are LOTS of T & A joints.. aka Gentlemens clubs that can give you a nice batchelor experience ( without the women folk around ) PM me if you need help plenty of bars and clubs around campus . One just needs to keep an eye open for 'hood rats.

Car stuff? Ohio Valley region SCCA is big and has events every month National Trail Drag racing and I can send you on some great blacktop trips Weekends at Quaker Steak and lube on Polaris are popular cruise ins. and some other Drive ins around town

They did nix the hard hat tour at Hoover Dam after 9/11. It still is a cool trip, though.

I went to LVMS, and talked my way into a race shop, where they were dynoing a NASCAR truck. They also gave me a nickel tour of the shop.

The gentlemen's clubs in Vegas have more-beautiful women, but stricter rules. What you can pay for in Columbus clubs won't get you jack in a Vegas club.

I saw Blue Man Group in Vegas, as well as in Chicago. The Vegas show was 10x better. Take time to tour the casino shops, as they are pretty cool. Not GRM, but memorable.

That would be da one. We had well over 50 VW's and Audi's do the road to get there, that was ka-razy!

I'll second the Carroll Shelby shop. Its right beside Vegas Motor Speedway, and both are about 1/2 hour from vegas.

For a seafood buffet, do the Rio. For a great (but not cheap) steak meal, do steakhouse at Circus Circus. Good cheap drinks at a neighborhood-type upscale dive, go to the Griffin Lounge on Fremont. I used to work for those guys. Good drinks, nice atmosphere.

Otherwise, Hoover dam is very neat and so are the lakes around there.

The only thing I want to do that is Carroll Shelby related is kick him in the nards for turning into such a douchebag over the last few years.

Well, if you visit his shop, you might get to do that (though I suspect it will only be the poor worker bees there) as he'll be in Texas being a douchebag by remote.
