My daughter's English teacher looks exactly like Joe Cocker.

It's not a great look for a woman.

Stefan, I remember seeing that episode live. It was GREAT!

Joe Cocker was SO pissed off about that once he noticed it!

TIL that GM does not learn or chooses to just pork their customers with sub standard designs and materials.  My work truck is a 2014 Suburban, we bought it in December of 2014 and it now has 155k miles. While it has been very dependable, it has some if the same issues my 2004 Yukon had when it was nearing 8 years old and about 200k miles. When ithe 'Burb was in for an oil change 6 weeks ago they told me it would need 2 of the 3 transmission cooler lines replaced and one of the rear axles seals was leaking. Dropped it off today and they call me to let me know the aux cooler is rotted badly enough they can't get the old lines out and the rear diff cover is nearly pourous and has to be replaced.  I get I live in a hostile environment but keep the truck clean, to me 4 years old is still pretty new. The underside looks like it is 50 years old and while crawling around under there it looks way worse than my friend's '05 Tahoe, which we just replaced its trans cooler lines back in December,  I think he is at 225k miles and his frame and under carriage look much better than mine. I'm thinking this belonged in the minor rant thread. Why can't they fix things that the rest of the world knows is a problem? I've been drinking the GM koolaid  for 40 years,  maybe it's time to switch to something with a less bitter aftertaste,  rant off.

Reminds me of my dad’s 2000 S10.  Low miles, a really nice looking little truck with no body rust.  Got under there when the diff cover rusted through and the whole truck looked like the Titanic from underneath.  I don’t know how the brake lines were holding fluid and one of the A-arms looked to be in immediate danger of collapse.  Dad got it in ‘03 and after that it ran on the same roads as my ‘98 XJ Cherokee which was spotless underneath.  I suspected a saltwater flooding event with the previous owner(s) but dad’s mechanic said nah...it’s par for the course for an early 2000’s Chevy truck.

In 1977 my twin sisters won 4 tickets to the midnight showing of the Joe Cocker concert movie.  They dragged me along and my dad insisted on going as a chaperone.

Two hours at a suburban theater of Joe Cocker withering around in his socks onstage was a major WTF moment for my dad that he talked about it the next 40 years.  Remember this was a guy that liked Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton.

Til I'm glad Australia doesn't get cold enough to require road salt!. The kinds of E36 M3 I see rusted out or just generally berkeleyed on here is astounding! And coming across 70 year old cars here with minor surface rust, that should be cherished not bemoaned.

Yesterday I learned I am in horrible shape during the chainsaw party. Today I learned how impossibly stupid it was off me to take my toddler thigh a submarine. Not only are WW2 subs definitely not built for people my size, but bending, twisting, and stooping to carry her through all the bulkheads sucked.

In reply to Stampie :

I was staying at a hotel for a few days while house hunting in the new Chicago suburb I was going to move to.  This Sunday morning I took the dog for a walk around the parking lot of the hotel pretty early.  There was this woman in her party dress from the wedding reception there the night before.  With her was a guy in his wrinkled tux, presumably from the same reception.  The guy had pulled his car up next to hers trying to jump start it.  No joy.

I walked around a bit and was headed back to the hotel when I made way around the back of the dead car.  Its backup lights were on.  I walked up and told her to put the transmission in park.  "Your backup lights are on, put the transmission in park".  She looked at me in wonder and she shifted the car.  It started right up.  Both of them, in their very own walk-of-shame look just stared back and me.  The guy looked at the woman with a "you stoopid...."

I smiled and walked away.

TIL if you're sitting in traffic and your buddy is in the Versa in front of yoy blowing vape clouds out the window. The cloud will get into the cowl vents on your Mustang and you'll smell it through the dash. The upside to vapers I guess is it was hazelnut, not like actual adult smoke smell.

Yeah it's one of the ironies of environmental activism. The NE in particular has more trees now than during the colonial period. Also trees are amongst the biggest sources of poor air quality. Great smokey mountains especially. cool

That the celebrated GB Shaw quote beloved of the Kennedy bros was the serpent tempting Eve. I'll admit knowing that now makes me feel pretty gullible.

"Some men see things as they are and ask why. Others dream things that never were and ask why not."

Not as inspirational after all. blush
