In a bit of "car guy" celebrity gossip, I was excited to hear that the Top Gear crew have just finished competing in the Rally Isla Mallorca, driving three classic cars bought at auction, (presumably for cheap.)

Lots of photos of the event to be found here.

Plenty of cool cars competing, and I really dig May's Citroen Ami (not to mention his co-driver.) As per usual, should make for some entertaining viewing when it goes to air.

That's cool as hell. Nice to see an event like that getting some Top Gear coverage. Looking forward to this episode.

Clarkson is WAY too tall for this car:

Madison Welch's driving shoes almost got me as excited as the Lancia Strada....

Do you guys remember the "deer in headlights" look May gets when confronted with any moderately attractive women on Top Gear? I'd swear the guy was gay EXCEPT for the fact that he's obviously so flummoxed when faced by anything with breasts and a nice smile.

    Completely over the top.
Take one wild car, '74 Lancia Strato, paint it lime green, give it red wheels and somehow all the crazy elements make for one fantastic loook.

Picture taken from the photo link given above.

    Clarkson: "James, I've been rescued..."

    May (completely awkward): "Hello"

I love that and the fact that they gave him an award for it was awesome.

    The article keeps saying Clarkson's A-H is a 1979...it's probably a '69 and I see he's smoking again.

That's exactly what I meant! I'll bet it was the most awkward rally drive ever recorded.

I hope they bugged the car....
