Brewmasters didn't even make it through its first season without being cancelled but I just saw an ad last night for season 2 of Top Gear USA, I'm chuffed! July 24th will be the first episode.

    I enjoyed brewmasters!

The main host was cool and local to boot.

Sam Calagioni is awesome! The man is my idol. (I look up to an eccentric English-major turn brewer who finds international success.) I certainly enjoy me some Dogfish Head. I'm really frustrated that show is off the air.

I am actually quite happy to hear that. The final few episodes they really started to gel as a team, accepted their roles and got along pretty well. I'll be watching

They need a little success to get confident and amusing. Sometimes its doing what the producer didn't plan that makes a show work.

Having watched some of the behind the scenes stuff, they actually have good camaraderie and are funnier when they're just hanging out and improving.

They really need to get rid of the one dude who I'm assuming is the "new yorker"

    You can be their Sabine.

    I love Sabine! She's adorable!

meh, I like the idea of TGUS, but it has been poorly executed at best........They either need new hosts or new hosts/producers/editors/etc. They just do not have the chemistry and humor between them.

Plus the two accents I hate most are jersy/NY and deep south.....

well see yall need to write the history channel and tell them that they need to hire me.

    In reply to yamaha:

I don't think that Rut has a deep south accent. I have heard deep south, he is definitely not there. The whole new yorker accent is obnoxious to me though.

As for the chemistry, you could see it finally on the Alaska episode. I think this next season will be better.

i'm just glad its back. even with all the hosts. there had to be something good and non-nascar related on cable

Rut barely has any accent. Definitely NOT deep south.

ya not deep south.... a slight hint of southern but not deep. heck i live in oklahoma after growing up in massachusetts and have a thicker southern accent than he does.

If anything, it's a south east coast accent.

Last year I signed up to be notified when tickets were open for taping. I will be on a road trip and missing it, but they tape in Irvine California for any West Coasters that might be interested. They are free. Top Gear USA tickets

That show could have worked if they had taken the formula from Deadliest Catch and followed around 4 or 5 different craft breweries through a season. Imagine if every episode they were bouncing back and forth between DFH doing their ancient beers thing, Allagash's experimenting with spontaneous fermentation, Stone developing their annual special releases, maybe throw in Victory and Ommegang to round it out. The could play up the conflicts when they all show up at a festival competing for the same medals, etc. I think that would have been a lot more interesting than what sort of amounted to an hour long DFH infomercial, with a lot of goof-around filler in the episodes. As interesting as Sam Calagione's story is, it just seemed like they were trying to make a show without nearly enough compelling material on hand.

That would have been a better series. Only issue is, there's not the same sort of competition between microbreweries. They all get along too well, and they're generally happy to see the others succeed. Brewers are just too darned happy and easy going. There just isn't that much on the line. Worst that happened to them was having to dump out a big batch of beer that failed to ferment properly. Yeah, that was a blow to their business, but ultimately not very nerve wracking.

Agreed...Rut's southern roots don't go that deep. Just like the others, he has been assigned a character/stereotype and told to play it up (...just like James May says the guys from the UK do.) Rutledge is playing a "southern redneck", Adam plays a guido, and Tanner plays a tuner kid.

In reality, Rutledge is a lot more like a GRM dork than the show would lead you to believe...fixing up old civics and driving a flat black datsun.

so close to what? news? (no offense)

I've stumbled upon BBC Merika and watch 6 hours/week (less the lame James May drunken wine tasting trip to calif) of the real Top Gear. Yes, reruns, but new to me.

Sabine? If she can do a 10:08 in a van, Ishould be able to do a sub 30 min lap in a M3, eh? I COULD TOO!!!!!!!!!!

(tonite's nighty-nite thought: Sabine bouncing up and down yelling "faster, faster!" whew!)

Save the singe-entendre sexual humor for the twelve-year-olds on Jalopnik. You'll fit right in; they really dig that sort of stuff.

I can't believe this has become a Brewmasters gripe fest. The problem with Brewmasters is the subject matter. It doesn't matter to most of America. You can only do so much with a boring subject. Now CARS on the other hand are FUN!!

    Americans love beer!

Learning something about it, well that may be too much of a leap.
