Cliff notes...Daughter was driving her 98 Oldmobile last week from Provo to Denver. She hit some ice outside of Rifle and ended up on the wrong side of road totaling her cherished ride. My name is on the title/insurance policy, insurance was just for liability. The car is sitting at a shop in Rifle waiting on a call from me. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Do I just send them the title and say thank you?

How much damage, any pics?
How far is that from you?

Yep, that's your best bet unless you really want the car. They will usually take the title in lieu of paying the bill.

I'm in Atlanta and I see no reason to try and get it back. I'm just trying to avoid a hassle with the shop for storage fees and other incidentals. Insurance paid for the tow. I'm just trying to be a good dad and help her out while she's finishing up her schooling. Now I just have to find her some new wheels and then figure out how to get it out to her

As long as the tow is paid sending the title so they can get scrap value on it is typically fair.

Its not worth the money it would take to get it back. Thats at least what it sounds like. Work it out with them. They'll probably just take the title.
