OK guys been looking into all this towing weight nonsense. I mainly use my truck for hauling mulch and car parts. 2005 v6 F150 with 3.55 gears and 17 inch wheels, transmission cooler. Truck weights 4700lb's, internet says the GCWR is 10,500 lb's.

Truck hauls ~1800lb's mulch in the bed at 65 down the freeway no real issue.

I need to drive ~500 miles with a 1800lb trailer power brakes and a 5200 lb car no hills as I will be bypassing the grapevine.

    1800+4700+5200 = 11,700lb's

Its close but no way that is going to work right those maximums are set in stone? I can borrow the 1500 v8 at the office but the GCWR is only a couple hundred pounds more and its got 160K on the clock and no tranny cooler.

Pssssh, you'll be fine. The board's motto for towing is: "It's rated higher in Europe, so go for it."

OK I am an idiot a 75 series is the full 5200, my 6200 series is 4520, 11020 is closer but not by much.

so you would be 500 pounds over. I am pretty sure the truck can handle that.. just do not bring any fat friends along

Just my skinny butt and a crap load of caffeine. Figure I can do the run in ~15-16 hour on road which is about what it took for me to get my 28 back home.
