My son was the junior manager at The Palm, there are three managers in all. The General Manager, the Assistant GM and Ian. The Assistant GM is in charge of the bar; the AGM was fudging numbers, taking kickbacks, open to bribery and had some other questionable practices. He resigned just days before they fired him.

Ian moved up to replace him so they are looking for an entry level manager. Starts at $50,000/year, guaranteed Sundays and one other day off during the week. Small shop, close knit loyal group of employees and very loyal customers.

They have only had one applicant for the job.

Now that Ian has moved up to the AGM, what is the opening bid that the bribery starts at in order to get hired?

@914Driver, I passed your link on to my wife and she just got back to me saying that she applied for the position. If that goes anywhere we'll owe you a few beers!

I would love to apply, but I am nowhere near NY.

While I'm not looking for a job, I think it's great when people post up job openings. With so many of us out of work, every bit helps.

    Tim,

If you PM me your wife's stats (not those) I'll pass it on to Ian. Today's Friday, I won't be able to see it until Monday but I will call him today.

Thanks Dan - I think she applied online yesterday. I'll send over the info later today.

The new guy's not working out, he's a punk. I met him just after Christmas, he kept touching and winking at my wife. Not a bad thing, but in that line of work there's a certain professionalism expected. He called in sick twice his third week of work, got caught hitting on a female customer and he really ought to be selling used cars somewhere. He brags that his only suit came from Goodwill.

    Professionalism.

If this is your schtick I can forward a resume to Ian.

Is he from Jersey? Sorry, that was too easy.

$50k a year is almost enough to live on in NYC...

Seriously, if this were closer, I'd be all over it. I can't believe a management position in the restaurant capitol of the US hasn't had applicants beating down the door.

If I weren't in IL I would love to check into this further. I actually enjoy catering/restaurant work.

No, he claims to be a Jewish kid from North Carolina.

Unprofessionalism is unprofessional no matter where you're from.

    New information:

Ian sat the guy down and counseled him on professionalism, communication and sexual harassment (don't flirt with the guests).

This morning at 2:40 a.m. the guy texted Ian, I QUIT!

No one was there to open this morning, Ian didn't open his texts until he was awake.

So if you're even halfass considering this, PM me, I'll forward it to Ian. Looks like he's back to doubles six days a week until a replacement is trained.
