So I see there's sim racing going on here with different platforms, sims etc. and not everyone can participate with everyone else.
What would you guys think about trying one of the FOSS/freeware sims like VDrift or Racer? They're not as pretty or full of features and will take a little skill to set up, add tracks and cars etc, but they'll run on any regular PC and everyone will be able to compete.
Thoughts?
You'll likely have the same issue. My processor won't quite hold up, etc...
The game systems are easy and enough of us have them that there is almost always someone to race with. Plus, if racing gets boring, pop in a different game.

Probably not, these aren't like commercial games with bleeding-edge graphics, they should run on average PCs that are a few years old.
I just don't think it'll fly with the crowd as well. Nothing against trying though. A big part of Forza is the personalization, so there are many angles to cover.
Most commercial sims (I just checked iRacing, but I also know it's the same with rFactor) don't really have onerous requirements when it comes to the PC. I would be very surprised if the FOSS ones require much less in the way of hardware as they're essentially trying to solve the same problem.
For video, which is the big sticking point, they don't require as much because the graphics are pretty basic (even as sims go). Any computer made in the last 7 years or so has plenty enough processing power for any game.
