    while i basically like that idea, and hopefully it wont apply to me soon, here in MA any 96+ obd2 car must be plugged into a state scanner and megasquirt won't do it.

    Meanwhile, each mandatory safety device added will add how much to the price of the car?
    Don't misunderstand me, I'm all for safe cars. Especially since I have kids and a wife that drives with all the crazies out there. I'm even on the road with the crazies and it scares me sometimes so some safety devices I'm all for. And having done aircraft accident investigation, I know how the black boxes can assist. And also assist in other means mentioned.

    This line of thought is the same that through the 50's to the late 90's almost got guns completely banned. These things work on incrimentalism, every bit you give they will take and ask for twice as much.
