Surprised no one started this yet. 
My wife thought it would be nice to treat a Veteran to dinner, so we're taking the 10:00 train down to NYC. It's a nice two hour ride along the Hudson River, very relaxing and pretty with the trees changing color. Do a little shopping, have dinner at my son's restaraunt (he just got promoted) and take the train back tomorrow afternoon.

Working right now, going to spend my lunch at the cemetery with my dad. Wife is heading out to Holly to the National Cemetery to honor her grandfather.
Youse guys beat me to it this morning! Regardless of your politics, we wouldn't have what we do, if it wasn't for men and women willing to serve in the armed forces. Thanks to all who have served, especially those who gave all.

Thank you to all who serve and have served. Thank you to my brothers in the Coast Guard. Thank you to those in the Army who have dealt with more than their fair share of tragedies this month and especially to Tony (wherethefmi) currently overseas. Thank you to the leathernecks in the Marines, especially our family friend who is overseas for the third time. Thank you to the Airmen and women in the Air Force keeping our skies safe. Thank you to men and women of the Navy keeping our shores safe. Thank you to all of those who are homeless, feel unloved, and forgotten. Thank you to those who paid the ultimate price and those who are still MIA. Thank you to their families for being strong.
I will be taking my step-dad out to our free meal at Applebee's tonight, calling both my Father and Mother to thank them, and sending a message to all of my fellow Coasties still serving.

Thank you. Closest I ever got to serving was as a cadet in Civil Air Patrol. I was turned down by the Navy on medical history. For those doing what I was unable to do, thank you.

I got up extra early today so i could go see a friend. We had quiet moment to reflect on what could have been. I then spent some time walking, cleaning and straitening flags. I don't now why it just seemed like the thing to do. In the distance I saw a figure. It rose slowly and saluted. As I got closer the figure became a man in full military dress. He was a big man but time and taken its toll. The once strong figure was now a bit frail and walked with a slight limp and a little hesitation. The face was that of strength, sadness and wisdom all wrapped in one. Our eyes met and I introduced my self. I spent the next hour just listening. I was late to work missing a so called important meeting. But I just did not care. I had a meeting that was much more important.
Yes, thank you one and all.

thanks to all..... the plant where I work makes things for both civilian and military air + the sights for the M1A1 tank.... and there are ~ 40 - 50 vets here out of 400.... not a mention over the speaker system, nothing on any of the bulletin boards.... it was like today didn't exist as far as management was concerned ... oh well they do pay us ....
