To say that she is hard headed is a gross understatement. She went to Senegal 2 years ago on another "Deal" that fell through. While she was there, she got married to her mentor. To help him get a visa. No amount of talking would convince her that that was going to get her arrested for marriage fraud. Also, considering that she is very white, and he is a true African, and that she is a dedicated lesbian, no way they would get through the interviews. Fortunately, that seems to have been forgotten about. But, in Senegalese law, they are married. That could bring about even more interesting times. Please, I am not making any of this up.

So, let's see... My grandfather bought his house in 1978 for $65,000. A 485% rise would make it worth $315,250. (It is actually worth about $120K). If we calculate a SECOND similar increase it would be worth $1.528 MILLION. There will never be a time it will reach that. Never.

There are certainly no shortage of homes that have passed the first number, and are already very close to the second around here.

Remember the three real estate L's: 'location, location, location'. That puts land in a whole different value class than gold or any other medium of exchange. But as the housing market showed even that can backfire.

Call me conservative and no fun, I just do not see the point in jumping on the gold bandwagon for the reasons I have already pointed out.

cwh, your d-i-l sounds like she has brought on herself some serious problems. Best of luck with that.

I fear the problems that she may bring on her mother. In reference to her last trip to Senegal, we had to pay her return air fare. Mentor refused.

My wife is the most caring, giving person in the world. Also, an absolute Mama Bear in protecting her children. Which means that she can be blind when she is being taken advantage of. This has been going on for a very long time, and has resulted in having police at our house twice to calm the daughter down before blood was spilled. Keep in mind that I'm 6' and 225# and she outweighs me. Last time she decided to belly bump me. That's when I called 911. OK, enough of my family secrets.

I found a few pieces of old jewelry from my old high school girlfriend, some of which was gold. I took it to a local antiques dealer and got what I felt was a fair price for it. Turned around and donated the cash to our church youth group summer camp program. I figured after the hell that chick put me through something good should come from it in the end. I figure gold is heading for a major correction soon and I wanted to get out while the getting is good.

"Ungreased, backdoor Hammertime lovemaking session" might be the greatest thing I've seen in print.

Yeah, but the letter is a fake. I wanted it to be real.

Did a lil' dealing today, got three different offers: $115, $145 and $165.00. One place offered me the full $297.00 as trade value if I bought jewelry worth $900 or more. That told me all I needed to know about their pricing structure.
