I'm a news junkie. As a Canadian the SNC Lavelin thing blowing up is great fun, but on top of that we had, India Pakistan, Trump Jong Un summit, Cohen testimony....good stuff all round.

Whoa that SNC-Lavalin stuff could be the real surprise...I hope it's not true, Canada shouldn't be a trailblazer down the path of "too big to jail." The government should be putting the screws to that nasty megacorp, not running interference for it.
Can you please (because Canada ) do a quick summary of this Javelin thing? (a summary link will do also)
I did a quick search and it seems to be something about corruption? (Clearly the media in "lower Canada" has other things to focus on, because I have not heard anything about this)
P.S. - as I am writing this: Netanyahu indicted on bribe and fraud charges!
Poop, fan, let's get together....
I'm just having one of those days where I really want to get fired up about something on the internet.
In reply to aircooled :
Justin Trudeau rolled into office in 2015 promising to do things differently. He has been touted as the polar opposite of Trump, with an unimpeachable character. But he has now been accused by one of his own party of a "constant and sustained effort" to block the prosecution of a large Quebec based Engineering company (SNC Lavelin) for corruption. Because it turns out jobs and reelection are more important than open government and the rule of law. A good chunk of the Liberal government as well as the top bureaucrats behind the scenes have all been implicated. Government toppling stuff actually. It is especially troubling in light of the arrest of the Huawei executive on behalf of you guys. I suspect the Chinese are watching very closely.

I think 2008 financial crisis has shown, regardless how inept and how bad the people get screwed, the corporations and government officials never seem to catch any heat for it.

Quebec... None of this is new, and none of it is a surprise.

The Ferrari F8 (not the button on top of your keyboard ) Tributo is the most powerful V8 it's ever made.
Then there was something about a neophyte politicians chief of staff eating a burger. I put that one down to sovereign immunity.

I agree with you, but I find myself in a strange position on that position.
On the one hand, I feel grinding them into sausage to feed the poor would be the most useful they'd ever be.
But I don't know if I feel that way because it's how I should feel as a poor, or because I'm jealous of their Teflon protection.
I've turned off the news. Don't follow the crap. I've been much happier. When it does finally filter down to me I'm just ready for the remote island and/or the meteor.
In other news, 93EXCivic is not only going to Build the wall, he is going to pay for it.
