IMO, Kazunori & Co. have a "golden moment" here..Turn 10 (by some accounts, actually commanded by Micro$oft) has seriously screwed up the online play for Forza 3. And rather than honestly adress the failure, they're bleating out full-contact Corporate language...
"..we're trying to bring the racers and the gamers closer together.."
Not exactly what I wanted to hear after spending the last year and a half discovering new ways to keep the sadistic "gAmErZ" OUT of races in Forza 2 online. And most definitely the last thing I wanted to hear after paying full price for the piece of BMW E36 (FM3, I mean) when it first came out.
I was a GT fan. Loved 4, the only reason I got bored with it was because a buddy with an XBox turned me on to Forza 2 online. The only reason I hate Forza 3 is because of the miserable online experience. Everything else in the game is absolutely fantastic.
I've been reading some of the Forza forums, and there's a lot of anger out there about how badly Turn 10/MS has screwed up the online for Forza 3. IMO, if Polyphony Digital can recreate the Forza 2 online experience with graphics and physical models that are the equal to Forza 3, they'll sell plenty enough copies to make all that development money back. Not to mention how many Sony consoles they'll sell as those of us who deserted the GT franchise for Forza come running back.
I didn't even own a PS2 before GT4 came out. I bought the game, the console, and the wheel & pedals on the same day. If GT5 is late because they've learned a lesson from the failure of T10, and they're intending the online to be a place for racers, rather than the multitudes of shiny happy people playing BMW E36 like Halo, I'll switch back to Playstation.
But I think that this time, I'll wait to hear what everybody has to say instead of just marching down to the GameStop on the day it's released...
