I'll third (or fourth?) the northern states suggestion. Also, try to stay away from Chicago (go to Milwaukee or Madison). Other than ones sold by autocrossers, I've yet to see too many clean miata's even if they're low mileage in the area. Not to say I haven't seen any (I have, and would have bought one if I had money) but they've often times led a harder life than one thats in a less urban area.
