Anyone have cars or bikes in self storage places? Year-long or seasonal?

Lots of the storage places around here also have parking for smaller trailers and full sized vehicles. I actually have two vehicles in outdoor storage right now, both on month-month rentals. The rusty Volvo is parked at the storage facility that probably has people running drugs out of it, the minty swift is parked on asphalt at the nice place on the south side of Red Deer. For $30/car a month, I can't complain and have never had problems with people breaking in.

If you're storing for a long time, might want to consider a car cover and something to keep the mice away.

I used to keep my restored car in a rental unit about a mile from my house. After doing that a couple years, and realizing I didn't drive it when it was out of sight, I built an addition on to my garage.

I've rented half a dozen storage garages, barns and spots in driveways over the years. My conclusion is, if you can't keep it on your own property, you have one too many vehicles. Out of sight = out of mind, and a project you either won't finish or a car you will rarely use.

Used to store my racecar/trailer in a gated storage place because I couldn't get the trailer to clear the bottom of my driveway. It sucked. $40(?) a month. Gated and video monitored, but every time I went to pick up the car, the cover would be pulled half-off from people nosing around, and the interior would generally be soaking wet.

The Hong Norrth crew has actually discussed getting together and chipping in on a lot to store stuff, but everybody's hurting financially right now, so that probably won't happen any time in the near future.

In the basement, next to the furnace.

I suppose it's worth noting that I do not have a Bilco door.

The Abomination is stored in the enclosed trailer across the street from my house. The RX-7 sits in the driveway. Long term storage it in an old tack shed on my parents farm. I'm too cheap to rent something. I will agree that out of sight is out of mind. I might need to go check the tack shed and see what's in it.

We have two disassembled motorcycles in the attic. Nice and dry up there, pain getting them up the ladder though.
