Your valve body sounds like it still has something wrong with it. You could always buy another tranny off of ebay. They're not just fitted to Beetles. They're fitted to Jetta 06 Passat 06 Rabbit 06 Audi TT 04 to 06. I believe they are now fitted to the MIni Coopers. The 2003 Beetles/Audi TTs are somewhat different. The 09G came out in 03 and the design was changed in 04 to remove 2 pressure valves from it. World Impex charges 900 bucks for a new valve body. Oh and off the topic if your milage is high you may want to think about replacing the timing belt. Anyhoo I love my Audi TT or should I say "Volkswagen TT" Handles like it's on rails. It's just a Maintanence Lemon that's all.

The 2.5L has a chain, which saves you about $900.00 every 80K miles.
I want a TT coupe.

Any progress with the fire yet? Every time I service a new beetle I catch myself gazing longingly towards the shops backup gasoline can.

Sold the car, quite possibly the best progress I could have ever made. Now my Passat has decided to commit suicide, so I'm parting it out.
