That is a big load of what comes out of the north end of a southbound bull. My income isn't terribly high, but I'm still able to pay for my cell phones (mine and my girlfriend's) without government help.

And if you can't pay... Maybe you shouldn't have one? I was under the impression that having one was kind of a (pain in the butt) luxury?

There was a snippet in the paper yesterday, about a one inch square, said Obama just signed off to allow HIV positive immigrants in.

Since you're (we are) ragging on the Gov't; why hasn't anyone bitched about the new Immigration Bill? If you're here for 24 hours you're in. If you're an immigrant, your kids get free college. My kid's been out of college a while but still has more student loans than I do mortgage.

    The curse of being honest....

See Michelle Obama working a food pantry for homeless people? One of the patrons whips out his cell phone to take her picture.

    Anything wrong with that picture?

Gots to have a phone to do the drug deals and/or call my pimp.

Not to say that there aren't legitimate needs by a lot of the people served by this program, but that's the first thing that came to my mind based upon what I see on the streets.

    Right on both counts!

That's beyond bullE36 M3. If every country used that twisted logic, I could legally stay long-term in: Singapore, the UAE, Bahrain, Australia, and Thailand. And I don't get "free college" even with the GI Bill.

How about this country start taking better care of the people--especially the veterans--who are already here?

You have to be an immigrant. I'll look around for the Bill number.

That link says "discounted", not free.

Remember, not all immigrants are illegal immigrants. If the US wants more legal immigrants, they should make it easier to do legally! Seriously, what a pain in the butt.

By the way, it's hard to get a job without a phone number. Good reason for someone who's homeless to carry a phone.

was listening to the BBC the other day and they were talking about programs to hand out cell phones in third world nations because it helped fight poverty. Apparently access to a phone is extremely benefical to the poor.

So that's just a proposal, not even a real bill with an assigned number then. Still, I can hardly believe that it is being proposed. Except that it's all too easy to believe it.

Does anybody actually have a link to a college web site where discount tuition is offered to illegal immigrants? I had to prove I lived in the district and had a social security number before I could take body shop classes at the local community college.

I used to work in the wireless industry. One of my old coworkers now deals with micropayments via cellphone, essentially turning cellphone minutes into currency if I recollect the explanation I got a few years back. Money doesn't have to work the way it does in the US. All of his business is in the third world. Some very cool stuff actually.

I have a hard time believing this is really a government program. It seems more like a marketing trap to me in the old razor and razor blade sorta sense.

Currently ten states—including California, New York and Texas—offer illegal immigrants discounted college tuition at public institutions of higher education and Gutierrez believes denying the benefit unjustly punishes innocent immigrant children that instead should be fully integrated into society as the “Americans they truly are.”

WTF! I'm busting my @#$#$ to pay for my wife and I to go to school and they're getting discounts? (mumble)"I'm gonna burn down the building, I swear I'm gonna burn it down"(/mumble off) ok bad joke I know but SERIOUSLY!?!?!!?! WTF?

From what I see there it's a propostition to give u up to a 3500 tax deduction for pet expenses, being a pet "owner" with more than a few dogs, I could live with that, considering most of mine are rescues or stray's that I can't find homes for it would help. Also more and more people are taking the attitude that my dog/cat is my child, if it's real it'll prob pass.

My question is this. Didn't people learn anything from what happend to Russia? When the government has it's hands in everything, not a whole lot is worth a damn, and the few with money become even more "elite", NOTHING IS EVER FAIR ACROSS THE BOARD! if that were so I would have the fab skills that Wheels has, and I would have no qualms about even thinking about chopping/narrowing a car on my own, as it stands. I wouldn't try it on anything I wanted to show anyone.

According to snopes they get a $10 discount. Tracfone is pay as you go, so I bet they get a $10 credit on their number per month. After a few months they'll probably default on their bills and wind up hurting TracFone in the end.

Best story I found from the internet is that this program is a government sponsored GPS tracking program for "poor people." And by poor people they mean non-whites and criminals, which are apparently the same thing. Gotta love the internet nutters...

Fair enough, if I was being completely honest, I should have used the title "One of the reasons why the government gets on my nerves every once in a while"

Wasn't trying to offend anyone here.
