I bought oil and filters for all 3 of my vehicles at once. castrol oil and purolator filters, it was on sale. Somehow, I managed to get 2 of the filters mixed up, and I didnt realize it until after I changed the oil on 2 of the vehicles.
The size difference of the filters wasnt much different than what the OP posted, maybe even more different than that one was taller and skinny, the other was shorter and fat, but the rubber seal was the same diameter, and apparently so was the thread pitch.... Both vehicles did not leak at the oil filter and neither had/are having any issues at all since the mix up.
