About a month ago my rx8 got it's set of winter wheels with blizzaks, and now I have 4 wheels and tires not on a car. The problem is, I don't have any place for storage, other than my living room. any ideas for a creative way to store them?

I like the way they look, and one idea i got was for me to stack 2 and put a round pane of glass on the top to use as an end table. That way i could have some cool looking wheel/tire tables. The sidewalls have a ridge that sticks out so the glass wouldn't touch the wheels, but as of now they are just sitting on my floor, 3 of them waiting for a good cleaning. I obviously don't want to damage them, but I don't want them just sitting on my floor. (i'm somewhat OCD in cleanliness and organization)

Double cool points if I can do the same to the winter wheels and tires during the summer.

I have all of mine stuffed in the front closet of the apartment we're currently renting. Well- there is one set that is on another car, and one wheel that sits on the dining room table because I like to look at it... sort of a post modern centerpiece if you will.

I've known several friends who put them in their apartment in a stack, put a cloth over them and a lamp on them, or some such variation.

Mine go under my back deck, there are 20 wheels/tires in there right now

If you go the table route I'd go to my favorite local tire store and see if they have any of those covers that that slip over a stack of tires in your favorite brand. I bet the tire companies send them to them free and they've got a bunch somewhere and they'd give ya a couple for free or cheap. Then if you want to see the wheel part through the glass, cut a circle out of the top. Cut the bottom to whatever stack height you have.

If you were closer, I would give you the glass top to our coffee and end tables. I think two stacks with two tires each would make a good base for a coffee table.

In school I knew a guy who topped his race tire end tables with the ends of 55-gallon drums.

I stack them fairly conspicuously with the top one standing upright and tell guests that it's art. Or just use it as a conversation starter (since these are my race tires).

I like the idea of stacking them in a corner with a cover and a piece of wood or glass to make them into a table for a lamp or some other piece of art.

If your winter rims look good.. you can just switch the tyres and keep the table

My wife used to get me those covers from her work (Costco). Worked great for those wheels that were stranded outside.

Build a simple MDF box that will enclose a pair of wheels. Make sure it's big enough to cover pairs of both winter and summer wheels. Cap with a piece of glass. MDF takes paint very well, so paint to match the rest of your decor. You now have two end tables and nobody will know what lurks inside.

those are pretty good ideas thanks! I like the idea of 2 stacks of 2 with a large pane of glass for a table top. if only i had room for another table... I like the idea of seeing the wheels because I like the way they look. Especially because i'm getting married in may and the future SWMBO may not want tires as living room decor... Then i'll have to implement your other ideas. Thanks and keep them coming!

I have a Boyd Coddington Smoothie in my living room, I think it looks pretty good.

If you are stacking the tires on your floor, make sure you put something under them. I've got some tire stains on the vinyl flooring at my shop from a stack of tires that sat on it for a couple of months.

She's not the marryin' type if she can't handle car parts in the living room. I knew mine was the one for me when I stored a spare rear bumper cover for the future SWMBO on the dining room table for 6 months w/o so much as a peep.

I was thinking about a coffee table too.

2 wheels per stack. Nice beveled 1/2 inch glass. And there you go you have a nice table to put your latest issue of GRM on.

I think the chicks would think it's hot too...

    As mentioned before "post modern"

Quick and easy - Weber grill cover. Up to 26" diameter if I recall correctly. Generic brands at the big orange box are cheap.

Tire ottoman for the win...2 wheels high, 2 wide, a pice of ply with some padding and cheap cloth stapled on. Set it on the wheels and enjoy drinks and extra seating for friends, family, and pterodactyls alike.
