Pretty good list, except I was surprised to see the EV1 on there. It was an impractical prototype, far from a "perfect car."

I think the I agree with the 911, Bug, Hilux and the 2/300 Benz.
The rest of the list was a nightmare of flawed thinking. It can't be perfect if it does only one thing well unless you add a qualifier following the word "for".

I would make a case for the Mini over the Beetle. Sure the Beetle had a longer production run and I'd wager more sales, but which car had a lasting impact on the automotive field. How many 2010 air-cooled rear engined cars are out there? How many FWD transverse water cooled engined 2010 cars are out there?
How about the Model T?
I think if I made up my list it might share only one car with their list. I'm glad they acknowledge that everyone will have their own ideas and they weren't trying to say their list was the end all be all.

I hate wired magazine. And that is a pretty damned good list. I would replace the Accord with the Civic is the only thing that came to mind.

The list is for "Damn near perfect cars". I didnt see anything near perfection except for maybe the Ferrari. Although the marketing on the Mustang on its initial release could be considered perfect. And the Beetle for being perfectly simple, albiet not perfectly designed.

Of course it's subjective, but I could see the reasoning behind most of their entries, and the list seemed consistent and not random.
Except for the EV1. I don't see how anyone could call a car out for such a short time a timeless, damn-near-perfect design.

The only two I don't agree with are the EV1 and the Evo.
Most of the others, the logic is clear. I'm not sure what the logic is behind the Evo. Best... Japanese techno car? I dunno. I think I'd replace it with the M3 as the ultimate example of a practical multipurpose sportscar.
