    I have known a couple of people with this name, it is not that unusual. It is rather old and from Norse mythology in reference to the giant wolf that was suppose to be able to destroy the gods.

    How bout living with the name Wendell.
    You should see the misspellings/mispronouncing. And yeah, there were jokes when I was younger. Even passed on dating a Wendy in high school. Although later I did go out with an Edwina that used the stage name Wendy. She did make me a believer in that line in a Led Zepplin song about Philipine women.

    My friends' son thinks it's so cool that I'm also named David. Out of 200+ kids at his preschool, he's the only David. (When I was his age, every other kid in school was named David.)

    I went to school with a Light Lee Dunn, none of us knew about his middle name until graduation.

    When the wife was pregnant, I would joke that if it was a boy it would be named Richard Edward (Dick Ed). Luckily we had a girl.
