I have a set of 215/70R-14's that I recently tried to mount on the Scoob. The fronts rub on the underside of the strut spring cup. These tires were given to me and they have decent tread, probably >8/32".

Option 1: Mount the tires on the stock wheels and buy some hub centric spacers. I would be estimating the needed thickness...if I had to guess I'd say 1".

Option 2: Buy some wheels with a smaller positive offset and mount those tires and hope they will clear the struts.

Option 2.5: If the other wheels don't have the needed offset, pick up some spacers.

Option 3: Stop messing about and buy some tires that fit.

I am an extremely stingy bastid and thus far have gotten by with mostly second hand parts for the Scoob but I'm afraid the time may have come for me to plop down the coin for new stuff.

I've "made" tires fit in the past and was unhappy for a variety of reasons. No more--I only buy the tires that will fit. Albeit used in some cases!

Option 4: Modify strut spring cup to fit tires. Good excuse to put some coilovers on the front.

Thanks Woody but I'm too much of a tightwad to upgrade to 16's right now.

    In reply to The_Jed:

Go to a used tire dealer and trade them for the correct size tires. Or option 3.

Option 1 would probably require putting in longer wheel studs which might cost more than tires that fit.

Option 2 might work but might also cause the tires to rub on the fender.

Option 3 is the best choice.
