Always wondered what it would be like to get a sneak preview of a movie. My chance came today when a friend scored tickets to Zombieland. A horror / comedy along the lines of Shaun of the Dead. Not really a deep "gotta think about it" type of movie, but a lot of fun. Not GRM related unless you try to pick out wrecked cars in the background. (nothing to important stood out, but I could have missed stuff) If you play Left 4 Dead online, however, this film was made for you. We had the quotes just flying throughout. Besides, it had Bill Murray in it. How could that go wrong?

You're confusing Ben Affleck with Bill Murray.

L4D is hella fun and I've been waiting for this movie ever since I saw the first preview, mostly because of the game.

Looks like a pretty cool flick. Haven't seen old crazy ass woody harrelson in anything in a while.

No, Bill Murray was the retard in, no wait, that doesn't matter - he's the guy in the B movie Zombieland. Ben Affleck is still on the A list.

Bill Murray was in City of Ember.... so yes, he has slipped in a big way for some reason (must need to make the mortgage payments or something)

So Stripes and Ghostbusters and Groundhog Day count for nothing? Last I looked people are still making fun of Gigli. Sorry, no love for the Benster.

The problem is that Mr. Murray hasn't really done anything funny since his earlier stuff.
I think he burned out, just like Chevy Chase.

I disagree. He was perfect in "Rushmore" and held his weight in "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou", "Lost in Translation". "Broken Flowers" and "The Royal Tenenbaums".
Where does "Kingpin" fir into his career, old, middle or new? Gotta love the combover!

Everyone of the movies you mentioned stunk, at least Bill's parts. He's overdone, won't take direction and full of himself. He's not funny cause he goes too far.

I didn't think much of Lost in Translation the first time I saw it. (Aside from the perfect opening shot, of course.) But I just caught it again on cable, and I gotta say, Murray was pitch perfect, as he was in Rushmore. Understated. Reserved. Dry. Funny as hell.

Parts of Groundhog day were filmed in Woodstock Illinois, just down the road from where I used to live. I was working at a bar at the time. One of my regulars came in one day and said his car had broken down just outside of Woodstock, when another car stopped to see if he was alright. Turns out it was Bill Murray, and he gave my customer a lift into town. He said Bill was incredibly nice, and funny.
I've never met Murray, but I've always heard he's a good guy.
Caddyshack Stripes Kingpin Meatballs SNL
Sure maybe his career hasn't been on fire lately, but I'll always love the guy for his hilarious body of work.
Besides he's a BEARS fan.....he's gotta be a good guy!

No one has mentioned the best segment in "Coffee and Cigarettes". "It's mother-berkeleyin' Bill Murray!"

Kingpin is one of those movies I have to watch if it's on...plus, it's got Bill Murray AND Woody. The circle is complete.

I think "The man who knew too little" was Bill's last funny movie.

I think he was the perfect Bosley in Charlie's Angels. Maybe I'll watch that movie again this weekend. You know, for Bill Murray.

Topic!
Scheduled to go see Zombieland tomorrow night. I'll come back with a GRM review.

Just saw Zombieland. I'm not into zombie movies at all, but this one is fun, fun, fun. Definitely worth the price of admission. After sitting in bumper to bumper traffic at 5:00 on a Friday afternoon, I look forward to the days of an infectious disease wiping out the population so I can ride around and shoot stuff. Seeing this movie will not be a waste of time. It's not too gross either.

Saw it last night. Really funny. It did remind me sooo much of Left 4 Dead.
