So I've built a 2.0 16v with 1.8 16v head. The oil pump shaft and gear for the intermediate shaft are held in place by a cap/retainer. The 1.8 16v is a different size (narrower diam) and I don't have the one from a 2.0 that I need. Anyone help out?

So you have a part that would fit if it had a smaller diameter?  It sounds like something  that could be easily modified by someone with a lathe.

No. Part is too small. The 2.0 uses a larger diam cap and I only have the smaller 1.8.

Is the 16v head going on an ABA block?

I likely have one in my garage if you still searching for one? Not sure what shipping would be from NB Canada though?

Edit: actually I may have used this when I swapped my 9a oil pump into my spare aba bottom end. I’ll have to check tomorrow.

To Vermont, 05487 if you still have.

In reply to vwcorvette :

As I understand it, you can put a 16v head on an aba, and either use the aba shaft with the 16v gear (what I am in the process of doing), or swap in the 9a stuff. So maybe that means you could also use the ABA shaft and pump in a 9a. This probably doesnt help you now, but it at least gives you another avenue to look down since 2.0 8v motors are everywhere.

In reply to TR7 :

On an aba this hole is used by the distributor, this block off plate/plug keeps the oil pump shaft in place if I remember correctly.

Looks like I used it to build my aba16v that’s been sitting on my engine stand for a while. If you can’t find one local I can probably rob one from one of my parts motor this weekend( kind of buried right now) Looks like shipping would be about 20$...

If it's the larger diam plug I'm interested. Can you measure?

That's it. How much to 05487?

I think this would allow you to use your current one...for 30$ may want to check with tt to be sure.

Still no response. Was suggested on another site that AEB or ATW might work.

Yeah, I don’t have one here to check but an early 1.8t I think had the plug.

If you can’t find one locally make me a reasonable offer and I can ship it this weekend when I’m back home.
