So, the guy that I know with a full machine shop is closing his doors soon.  This means I wont have a mill, lathe, or any of the other fun toys I like to play with, so I'm going to have to start from scratch.

I'll be keeping an eye out for home versions of these tools, but as of right  now I'm not really in a place I can buy, store, and maintain them.

So, you guys without all the fancy toys, how do you do it? How do you fabricate what you need?

Grinders, belt sander, drills and a welder.

Mostly, I don't. I can fake it to a certain extent with things like wood, sheet metal, and plexiglass, but I can't do any real fabrication. My new 3D printer has added to my capabilities a bit, though.

You can do a LOT with grinders, belt sander, drills, and a welder.

I kept an eye out for deals, and slowly collected more and more machinery to do what I wanted to do.
