This on f4. I have been playing around with this idea. Spec Z28 any adjustment are legal, base colors and a number and name on car. 6 tracks, one would be a superspeedway run like NASCAR. 20lap races with no pitstops. Limit it to 12 entries. Thoughts?

This would be on f4

I ran in a series with the old 911 in Forza 2 that was pretty fun. It only used the SPORT suspension though, to truly make it a spec series.

I fiddle with that somewhat... But these cars are complete handful with just sport suspension. I used all engine race components except no increase in displacement. Trans was sport also. Everything else was race. Let's see how its light and heavy go then I will pony up to run a series.

Hmm..I really wanted a late 2nd gen Camaro when I was a teenager. I'm in, if you can get the rules up. Paint it up like when the old Penske IROC cars, I suppose?

I have little to add other than the 78 Iroc is a surprisingly nice car to drive in FM4. I have a nice tune at B500 on sport tires, and another one up in Mid A class the only difference between the two being power. Ran sport trans on both. I could probably dig up the tunes if anyone is interested.

I ran a couple IROC series for TORA, and the builds are still on my storefront, free of charge. One thing with a storefront build is that its a locked tune, which makes it a true spec series, as all have the same tune to drive.

If I recall correctly, there should be a 1973 911, a 1978 Camaro and a 2002 Pontiac Trans Am, as we have done all three series.

I intentionally build spec cars a little hard to drive, so that they don't get boring. Remember, many passes are a result of someone's mistake, and cars that are too easy to drive can result in rather boring races due to a lack of mistakes.

FlyinMikey I will take a look at your tunes. I have a build in mind, but the more I think of it the more I think a true Spec series with all out race components is the way to go.

Mikey.. Found your 911 tune but not your 78 z28 on your storefront. Think you could verify its name for me. Interested as I have a build set, but I would like to compare against someone elses to compare. Thanks in advance.

Uh oh, I must have removed it. I will repost it later in the week. I think its 450HP and low S Class.

I found your build on TORA by searching your posts. Kind of stalkerish but it was helpful to see the comments and other reactions too. I redid my Z28 last night and it was much better than my attempt at throwing every racing mod at it. 449HP 631, I think. I copied some other spec builds too. Made for a fun evening of building cars rather than racing.

Chrispy, you must have dug through the archives for that one. But that was a great way to find it. That series was fun, especially when I inadvertantly hit "-25% rear grip" at Road Atlanta. It was our first ever wet weather race.

Post it up then... I would love to get this started.

From Flyin Mikey J's TORA archives. 79 Camaro Z28 Iroc build

Build & Tuning Rules: 630 PI/449 HP Spec Build

Race : Air Filter, Intake, Carburetor, Ignition, Exhaust, Camshaft, Valves, Pistons, Flywheel, Brakes, Rollcage, Weight Reduction, Differential, Tire Compound

Sport: Springs/Suspension, Antiroll Bars, Clutch, Transmission, Driveline

Street: Engine Displacement

Tire Width: 255 F/265 R

Wheels: Compomotive ML

STOCK AERO

For paint, keep the stock stripes and then any color of your choosing. Names on the side with # on the rear pillar. Screen shots look great. I didn't do any of the cosmetic stuff. Car was fun around Sedona's oval but needed a final drive adjustment to stay off of the limiter on ovals. It very close to the actual 1979 IROC rules too, from what I could find quickly online.

^ Yep thats it.

The car can be a challenge to drive, but rewards handsomely when you get into its rhythm. We ran it on US tracks that were in existence back in 1979, to maximize realism. As it was the first official TORA series I hosted, it put me into TORA official status, along with Spec Miata.

Oil and cooling???

I don't think I used any Oild and Cooling upgrades, for weight balance reasons (too much noseweight) but I could be (and usually am) wrong on that.

Revisiting the build rules reminded me... the reason for so many "Sport" upgrades, as opposed to "Race" bits, is that there is very little left to tune. Less tuning makes it more authentic to the real IROC, as those cars were identically prepared, not tuned to each drivers liking.

Holy wallow... These things are fast pigs set like this. I was hoping for a little tighter handling... But I can work this.

I loved this series on TORA, it was fantastic fun (even with a 20% rear handicap) you actually had to drive these not be driven, called for some close and exciting racing

My suggestion with the SPORT suspension is, NO assists. ABS and TCS really help, since it's usually too stiffly damped, and doesn't have enough camber built in.
