From Dean:

Argo (and others)

This is the list of cars I came up with for use in a future touring car series. We need to look at what PP to use and what tires. I was assuming that we would make it a full tuner series with the standard tuning regulations but if this needs tweaking we should note that as well. And as usually we are looking for ringers as well as those cars that are less then competitive.

My initial thought is a PP limit of around 465. I have not tested things yet and I am sure there is a ringer or two in there but it is a nice selection of cars.

Test results updated with more cars. I think what this proves is that these cars are very equal and that the update a while back ahs changed the driving dynamics such that the driver and gearing setup is going to be where speed is found.

To note the TA I did increase the gearing to something like 155 or 160 mph and it still was not optimal. Every other car was tested at 143-149 mph.

Also note that the Chevelle was tested with an open dif and a LSD. The lsd was adjusted a little but I got my best time with it set to the default. The car got twichey but was definitely faster. bringing it up to the speed of the other cars. I am not sure if this car would actually benefit from some gearing adjustments similar to that of the TA to get the power down better. I am suspishious that it is just a matter of tuning the gearing to make that car fast but the simple thing is to just add a LSD. Anyway I would be in favor of letting the Chevelle run LSD if anyone wants to run it and have an LSD that is adjustable

The GNX has a stock lsd that is not adjustable so that is another car f you like a car that drives like that just with out the adjustability.

Anway here are the results sorted on fastest average lap and again I have MANY more miles on the cougar as it is my car of choice for this series so it is probably a little higher in the list than it should be.

Sunrises to the party was the Challenger and the GNX. I thought these were going to be a lot slower and was pleasantly surprised at there performance numbers. Another one was the Mach I. It was a horrible car befor the update and in GT5 but now it is one of the better driving cars.

I tested some stuff awhile back, I am a bit surprised that the 73 mustang is on your slow list.

Suggest retest on a tighter track, that car out-cornered most of the others, it was one of my fastest back when I was testing.

Was your testing pre the big up date? That update changed the physics of these cars and many of my expected ringers were slower and some of the cars I thought were going to be slow were in the hunt.

If I had the time all of these should be tested at large tracks like spa or GP/F and on smaller tracks like Autumn Ring Mini and see how things pan out. I bet there are some that have a handling advantage where as others have the HP / Torque

In reply to Apexcarver:

Actually I re read your post and you will note that the Mach I is almost dead in the middle and only about a second off the fastest cars so Ya that car is not on my slow list. It is a fantastic handling car.
