I have a several-years-old Vanson suit I picked up used but in immaculate condition a few years ago. CE armor in the shoulders, elbows, knees, and a back protector that velcros in under the liner.

Most of the armor seems pretty modern, but the back protector seems a bit flimsy compared to the images I've seen of modern stuff. It's segmented/articulated, but the segments seem to be riveted to foam-covered cardboard, or something of similar substance.

Anybody have any recommendations for a modern back protector? Dainese? Alpinestars? Other? Specific model?

I'm 6'0"/190, and the suit is, um, markedly snugger than when I bought it at 160, so less than super-bulky would also be great...

back protectors take up a lot of room. I have had a few different ones including a Dainese vest with front protection.

My vanson suit didn't have any back protection. I have several jackets (mostly Alpinestars) and they only come with a thin foam sheet for the back.

I tried on the Bohns (sp?) a few years ago and it was particularly thick.
