You guys that didn't go missed a amazing experience. The attendance was up to almost 58,000, from around 35,000 last year. Any bike that you can imagine, will have several immaculate examples there. Sometimes just parked beside the road. Ducati was the featured marque this year.

Oh yeah, and I bought a clean, great running, '72 Yamaha R5 at the swap-meet.

    Pics to come tomorrow.

A buddy of mine went and said it was great. I wanted to go but just bought another bike, so stayed away....I can't go to something like that without bringing home another bike. Sounds like you picked up a good one!

Tell me it's not the purple and white R5... I loved mine but purple faded so bad i was forced to paint it.

I missed it but I could see the airshow from my front yard. And of course, I saw vintage bikes going up and down the road behind my house pretty much all weekend long.

NICE! I alway loved the R5 gearbox. I like it better then the RD's. What plans do you have for it?

In reply to 44Dwarf: I'm fixing what need maintained now. And plan on making it caffeinated in the future.

My favorite one i built to ride on the street was a r5 bottom end with RD cyl and a set of Bassani pipes. RD front end will slide right on too so you can get disk in the front.

Your charging system might be fine with the new bulb as halogens use less power.. Watts is power however bulbs should be rated in Lumens not watts offten a bulb is listed a X watts but realy only draws Y watts but puts out same light power. Only way to realy tell is put a amp probe on it

I used to run my R5 with both low and high beams on at night. Theres a spot on the slide switch were you can have both one at once there no knotch for this spot but it will stay there.

I bought that for my late Dad, as a father's day present. Since he passed a few years ago, it has become one of my favorites, when tinkering in the garage.
