OK I need new gear, specifically a new helmet, new jacket, new pants and new boots. I will be riding a road glide not that that matters much.

The helmet I think I am just going to have to break down and get at a local shop so I can see what fits right.

As for the jacket and pants, I would really like a black old school leather jacket that has hidden spline protector and good shoulder and elbow padding. Same with the pants but I would like to find something in a textile with good knee protection that will fit over a larger heavier boot.

Anyplace online that always has a good deal or that carries the high level stuff at a decent discount. I am hoping to get a discount so my dollar goes further and I can get better gear for the money I want to put out.

Say 1K for the jacket pants boots.

    I could make a joke about buying a do-rag instead of a helmet since it's a Harley, but I won't go there....

I love newenough.com . They've got pretty good prices and their customer service is top notch. Plus, if they end up reducing the price on a product within a certain period after you bought it, they'll give you store credit in the amount of the difference (or maybe cash, I can't remember what I got). Plus, they're willing to ship to APO/FPO, so they support us DoD civilians and military folks overseas!

I hate to be a Vanson zealot, but I love my jacket. If you don't mind going used, $200 - $250 will get you a used leather jacket in good condition on ebay, frequently with costly add-ons (thermal liner or armor) included. New ones are at least $450.

Icon is the brand in the second link. I have an ICON Daytona jacket. It is NICE. Wore it the other day riding in the cold and couldn't feel a thing (except for my chin was freezing, but that went numb so then I was back to not feeling a thing).

For helmets, all the links above are great. For the rest of it, I have found a closet full of great deals on craigslist.

Your helmet should be new, that way you know it has never been dropped. But pants, boots and especially jackets are all over craigslist. I have 4 jackets for various seasons, an 2 piece cortech riding suit, another pair of summer riding pants (so much better than jeans for cooling and protection) and 4 pairs of boots for the track, riding and dirt. as well as 2 one piece leathers for the track and a 2 piece. I don't think I paid over $200 for any of it, and almost all of it for less than $100. My summer jacket I got for $30. Nice visible white cortec ICON with armor at the contact points and a ton of vents.

Now is the time for CL and E Bay because the season is done and people are cleaning out there closets. Lots of good deals out there.

    Also check out http://www.webbikeworld.com/

They have invaluable reviews on tons of gear and a sale section of gear they have evaluated. I read about newenough (now motorcylegear.com) in some of their reviews. Can't praise webbikeworld enough.

    Lutz's Leather

I shop here because I can go in and try it on, and they make custom stuff. To me, that is super important...especially for a helmet. I bought a few pairs of gloves online and never got one that fit. They had about 150 different styles hanging on the wall so I could test fit until I found the perfect pair for me.

I buy most of my gear from Revzilla. Prices are as low as everyone else, and since they're in philly its almost always to me next day. Otherwise, I buy locally.

And +1 on Aerostich for real gear, mostly. I hated how the Darien jacket I found on ebay fit (too much material became a sail in the wind, otherwise amazingly comfortable on the bike), but loved the pants even if they were too short. Ordered a set of AD1's since they were on sale last month and they're by far the best overpants I've yet had. Waterproof, easy off and on, fit over motocross boots just fine, armor fits great once it and the pants mold to you a little. I've tried Olympia Airglides, Fieldsheer Mercury's, and FirstGear HT Air's, wish I hadn't wasted my money but I wouldn't really appreciate the AD1's without them either.

My next jacket will probably be an Aerostich Transit. Waterproof leather that still (kinda) breathes ftw. Or a Harley FXRG jacket. Check ebay for the best deals.
