Bought it. Rode it. Love it!

Thanks for the words of wisdom everyone. It's a very docile bike. Plenty of torque to keep it moving, but it's easy to handle. I just keep it in higher gears for now. I'll be signing up for the motorcycle safety course in a couple days when I get back to New York.
