They would either be 500 or 750, the 250s were VTR and the 700s were only 87-88 (or89, I forget)
Edit: there were also 400s for the first 2 years, or they could be 1000 but my money is on 500 or 750.

I think you didn't catch what he was driving at. This is what I think he meant.
1.) Swap vin numbers
2.) Swap engines
3.) Swap forks, running gear, tires and wheels (hey, if it ran a year ago, this stuff is probably all good!)
4.) Swap frame, fuel tank, peripherals
