The backstory is that my dad needed something in two wheels to partner with his quad out in Elk Country Colorado for hunting. Apparently, they banned quads in certain places, but not 2-wheelers. So he wants something that can slip into the van beside the quad, is easy to operate since he has never ridden a motorcycle, will run at high altitudes, and is OK on dirt trails and the street, but no need for serious off-roading.
The Honda CT-90 or Trail 90 fits the bill. It's only 90cc, but it has a high/low range so it can handle light off-roading or street driving. It has a high-altitude setting on the carb. The handlebars even unlock and rotate 90-degrees to make it really thin for packing or storing. It comes with a rack for carrying various elk parts out of the woods. Parts are plentiful, and it has typical Honda reliability.
We have been looking and found plenty that were far away and had high miles, needed lots of work, and were too expensive. A few were restored, but commanded big bucks. This weekend, we found a 1972 that was close by for $1000. It looks new, runs great, and everything has recently been updated that needed updating. Miles? 270. Total. OMG!
