Do the good people of GRM think it would be a bad idea to just spray bomb the underside of my fenders? I feel like they are just going to get pounded with rocks and dirt and E36 M3 so why not.

nah, not a bad idea. Mask off the outsides though, cuz overspray is a bitch.

For metal ones - especially 1970s Japanese ones - this is actually a very good idea.

What about using some bedliner or spray-on undercoating? It'll protect your paint and might hold up to rocks better

    In reply to thatsnowinnebago:

That is a pretty idea I will probably go with that.

I agree with thatsnowinnebago, bed liner is definitely a good idea for the underside.

Now that bed liner is cheap it is the way to go. We used to use "Rocker Shultz" or spray under coating but crap takes for ever to dry.

Painting them is a good idea.

Back in da day, the metal fenders used to get cracks in them. The way you stopped the cracks was to drill a small hole at each end. Of course, it would immediately crack somewhere else.
