About an hour ago I parked a 1980 Yamaha XS 400G in the garage! I'm the 4th owner and have a box full of receipts, service records, spare parts and tools to go along with it.

The headlight is pretty dim, but other than that it is in incredible shape!

Tomorrow's agenda: register and insure bike, procure headlight (looks like the whole housing needs replaced from a quick google),remove windshield and go for a ride.

The man I bought it from was meticulous in caring for it and, at age 83, really didn't want to see it go, but hasn't ridden it in over a year, either. It was well worth the 150 mile drive with bored preschoolers and a crappy trailer just for the opportunity to chat with him.

(This is probably a bit disjointed, I'm tired and my brain is going in about 10 different directions)

Way cool. My first and only street bike is a '76 Kawasaki KZ-400 with about 2500 miles on it.

That reminds me, I need to finish cleaning out the gas tank, paint it, and get it back on the bike so I can ride.

    Very cool.

Don't toss the windshield yet, you may be surprised how nice it is on the bike after awhile

Not tossing it, just taking it off for now. Thinking about trimming it a bit. Also taking off the trunk until I get a better feel for it.

On hold with the local Yamaha dealer to find out about a headlight. Apparently it's $120 for a BULB! Umm, no thanks.
