I am looking to teach myself bike carbs.

Is there any "textbook" or dummy guide for carb principles and more importantly rebuilding.

    Any insight?

Granted it's 35-year old information, but the Kawasaki Shop Manual for my '76 KZ-400 goes into very nice detail regarding principles of operation, disassembly, reassembly, maintenance, etc.

There is a guy, Larry, who is the carb guru on the chopper charles forum for the CX500s that has book available. His technique is a little different but his results are super. He goes by the handle "LRCXed". He's also on the naked goldwing board, but not as often. On that board, they like "Randakk" who also has a carb book.

I got this book and I am 95% sure it has a section of carbs.

assembly is the reverse of disassembly.

setting the carb up is a little more involved.

the biggest thing is making sure that the carb is not dirty and small orifices are not clogged.

Wear safety glasses when blowing air/carb cleaner through the various passages.

While Larry is a GL/CX guru, carbs are carbs. The Keihin carbs were widely used and the process applies equally to Mikuni. Those two manufacturers covered most Asian bikes. If you're looking for generalities:
