    I think he meant this...

    "Intents and" or "Intensive"?

How good are those Hyosungs? I don't know anybody who's had one. Think they'll last as long as a Ninja? (full fairing versions are advertised around the same price)

I don't actually have one, but every time the motorcycle bug bites me, I always end up looking at Hyosungs. Apparently they share some design with Suzuki's, or used to make engines for them (it's sort of unclear depending on who you talk to). I've heard Hyosung is steadily getting better, sort of like Kia or Hyundai.

I'm still waiting for a crf450 street motard with reasonable maintenance intervals

good luck with that, they had one, it was called the XR400R.

The CRF is a good bike, but has 2 stroke maintenance and needs a green sticker in order to even consider getting a plate here in California (know of a few that managed it with trips to secret DMV locations in Cali.)

2 strokes are more reliable, and less maintenance intense than Honda's 4 stroke race bikes. A comparable 2 stroke mx'er will go for several seasons with oil changes, and maybe a piston and ring in between - a 45 minute job.

If you must buy one, buy one used. Like Kia and Hyundai's first offerings, they have squat for resale.

They aren't bad, just uninspiring. Which makes for a great dispaosable commuter car, but is kinda counter to western motorcycle culture..

If I could pick up a Hyosung for song and they won't immediately puke a bearing, then sure, why not? Ninja 250's barely seem to depreciate.

Plus, the naked version is a bonus.

I was actually just looking at these new Hondas. The lack of a posted price is a HUGE turn-off for me, though.

    In reply to ReverendDexter:

Looking as in "it was in the showroom" looking? Or just expressing some curiousity?

The lack of a listed MSRP is probably Honda stalling long enough to gauge interest in the market. The price will likely be more than a 250R, but if it's more than 10% they could easily start losing potential buyers.

Price is a big factor for new buyers/riders and the Kawi has the added (perceived) advantage of an extra cylinder, too. Though the Honda's ABS is a really nice feature.....

Looking as in just curious. I'm not quite in the financial position to actually feel comfortable walking into a showroom just yet.

CRF 450 motor in a similar platform could be fun. Good gearing and decent suspension could result in a great mountain ride.

Did we ever get that model in the states? Looks freakin awesome.

Back OT - I didn't realize that the new Honda 250 was a dohc single-cyl. For some reason I'm having fun imagining some cute little shorty camshafts with only 1 lobe on them. Like little camshaft sausages (I need to eat breakfast methinks). I'm sure that's not uncommon by any means in the bike world, but I just never thought about it. (warning: bike noob)

It's weird. I love naked bikes, but something about those 80's fairings does it for me every time.

As far as I can tell, it was a Japan Australia model only. The specs are pretty rediculous in my mind. 6 speeds, 45 horsepower at 15,000 RPM, 18,000 RPM Redline, and a dripping wet weight of 346 pounds, 4 cylinders, 4 valves per cylinder, gear driven camshafts.

Sounds like a TON of fun.
