I love bikes, but I stopped riding when I had kids. I felt there was too much out of my control, no matter how good a rider I was.
I was reminded this weekend how fragile things are when a good friend lost his grandson to a motorcycle accident.

Guy at work had a crash this weekend as well. No helmet and two skull fractures to show for it, but fortunately word is he seems to be doing OK. Sometimes it's better to be lucky...
Ouch. 
I made the decision long ago that they would kill me. Now that I feel responsible enough to ride one, traffic is so bad I'm still not willing to buy one.
My condolences to your friend. That would be tough to deal with.
