Rex done a bad, bad thing: 2000 Ducati Monster 750 Dark ~5000 Miles Remus CF exhaust, 900 front end, Ohlins rear shock, Corbin "carbon" seat.

It's got clip ons now, but those are going to go as soon as I can get a bar ordered.

It's got alot more horsepower than the Chickenhawk, but still not the frenetic insane horsepower of a modern watercooled four cylinder. I think it's quite possibly the perfect motorcycle. Stylish, torquey, handles good, and those brakes are NUTS. Probably overkill for the bike considering how much engine braking it has, but I won't complain. Just need to learn a little hand discipline is all. :)

I haven't sat on many motorcycles, but whenever I put my leg over a Monster, it just feels so, so perfect. One day I'll get my own; I really admire a bike make out of scaffolding.

Very nice bike indeed. My buddy had a 650 monster. It only had a five speed, so my sv650 could beat it (maybe it was just the rider ), but the Duc was far sexier -- and sounded a lot better. I can only imagine how much better that 750 would be. Well done.

Why go back to handlebars? If you decide to sell the clip-ons let me know.

I'm not really all that surprised. A watercooled 4 valve Vtwin vs a aircooled 2 valve twin of the same size? From a performance perspective, no contest...from a style one, though is a different story.

I prefer bars. Clip-ons make my hands go numb. And hurt my hips.

Rex- I might have some bars that would work for you, so long as you are ok with fairly wide set. Chrome. Given to me, I would be glad to pass them on. Let me know. Oh, and let me know what size that thing takes. I'll have to take some measurements of the bar.

I think the 750 Monster would be right in the sweet spot power wise. I think it's the one I want when I finally have the money to blow on a completely irrational bike (if I don't end up on a Street Triple). I agree with Mitchell, they just feel right when I sit on one.

I am almost certain it's a 7/8" bar, but I didn't get the opportunity to check, too busy riding it around. :-D I don't know what "fairly wide" means, but I don't mind a wide-ish bar.

Well, I pretty much felt the same way, and this bike fell into my lap for a price I simply could not refuse. I too felt like the 750 would be the sweet spot for power, and I was actually happy about having carbs vice fuel injection, as I have heard (but cannot personally confirm) that the fuel injection of that generation (~2001) for the air cooled really sucked balls.

But it did feel right. It's very low, lower than I thought it would be, but the pegs are at a nice spot, and if the clipons were back just a little further I think it'd be perfect, which is why I am going back to a bar.

Oh and the sound. C'mon. It's beautiful. I don't even know why motorcycles are even made with inline engines.

I really don't want to say, as it was a family deal and I actually feel guilty about it. I can say it wasn't challenge priced, but not double. :)

Im not a huge fan of the sportbike, I like smaller thumpers, but I must say,thats a sexy machine there! well done

OK, the bars that I have for you are just shy of 28" wide, and come back approx 4". They are yours at SP next weekend if you would like them. Let me know. Chrome, but that can be changed easily enough.

Well, go ahead and bring it. 4" back seems like alot, but maybe not.
