I have to say that I love the looks, and the engine is sweet too, handles decent, but I plan on some two up sport touring not a lot of long distance so I wont need a full fairing. Hmm, carb'd so I might have an interesting megasquirt project coming up.
Nice bike! You should have no trouble keeping up with me on the Ruckus. I had an '83(?) GPz that looked exactly like that, fairing and all.

Nice, I like the red. FI is over rated. Good carbs work fine 99% of the time. Plus with carbs, you can shut the throttle off while moving, hold the gas open and pop the clutch and get a nice loud backfire. it is fun for scaring kids and people driving on their cell phones (make sure you are in front of them).
I love ZRXs. I'd want a proper green one, but the red looks good too.

keep us informed on the megasquirt. I have a KZ750 from 82 that if cheap and easy, I might try it.
Yeah well hopefully the bike wont be sold today, then i'm gonna have my wife go put an offer on it, no I'm not back yet

Probably not a lot of people shopping for motorcycles on a Monday morning, in February, in Washington.
Yeah, the dealer said there was a guy that was going to pick it up today, i'm gonna offer 4k for it, and try to walk out at 4200-4500 we'll see, there's always more bikes. I mean that's the first one I came across. I'd like to have a bike waiting for me when I get there, in June, July when the roads are perfect in Washington.
Short list, is... ZRX1200R, Bandit 1200, and A V-Strom, VFR800s but I don't know how I feel about the linked brakes, though ABS is real appealing.
And I know The 1200 naked Bandits are a little hard to come by.
So the bike is still there, and I have approved financing!!! 162 a month isn't too bad.
Cash is a whole lot better!

Great bikes. Really fun from what I hear. The motor is the same design Kwak has used for eons. Stout runner.
They are heavy and need the tail lifted if you want faster turn-in in the twisties. I'm pretty sure you can do this by turning the chain adjusters upside down in the swing-arm.
But hey..if you're just touring you'll do fine to leave it alone and enjoy the ride.
Any idea where you'll end up after you serve?
Also, budget for gear. Get the best you can afford. These guys are awesome for gear.
Yeah, I know cash is a lot better. I can afford the payment, and the improvement on my credit...wasn't so hot till lately, so anything I can do to improve it. I got him down to 4200, so with tax tags and blah, blah 4700 right about where I wanted to be.
I have a great interest in saving my neck, so I'm looking into those airbag jackets. Yeah I know it's a heavy beast, but I'm sure it's going to be lighter than my 83 GS750E was, plus it'll have better handling cause it wont have different sized wheels front to rear. But yeah, plan on maybe one track day with it when I get to europe, any one want to venture a guess where that is?
After I get out, I have a federal job lined up so I'll probably be back in the DC area after 10ish years away, though I could change my mind and try and go Blue.
The wife expressed how she thinks she'd feel more comfortable piloting her own machine, than riding on the back of some death trap lol, so off to the MSF for her, and I think they have a kieth code street survival course here locally (well seattle area, not afhganistan lol).
I'm getting it loans are processed just needs to be paid for and delivered!!!
So the wife went and took care of all the paperwork stuff, and it now resides on the back patio of my house, the bike is no longer on their website, so I'll be posting pics she sends me, when she gets a chance. and I found this little gem of a site zrxoa.org needless to say there's tons of info there. Man I'm in trouble, got a sweet bike, and now I'm off to germany this year and will break my brain trying to find the coolest car I can bring back to the states with me.

Yeah I found zrxoa.org they are a little newb un friendly, but it seems aimed at the hey how do I "whatever that's really obvious" guys, most likely who are forum newbs in general. i'll check out advrider I though it was for dual sports an the like.
Nice! I had an '84 GPz-1100. My mechanic told me that liberating the intake & exhaust saved a lot of trouble down the road. Those that were not so modified had some kind of melt down because of computer woes.
Do they offer a chin spoiler on the ZRX?

ADVRider is for every rider. Great ride reports and a metric ton of general motorcycle info on that board. It might've started out for dual sports but now caters to adventures on two wheels of every type.
There was a thread on there awhile back about these kids (early 20's) buying the cheapest jap bikes they could find to tour the U.S. We're talking $500 Kwak 500's from '72. It's a hell of a read especially when one drops a valve in BFE and they lap the valves in a guys shed who they don't even know.
