The GSX-R motors are popular since they're cheap, available, and don't have oiling problems that some of the other engines do (you don't even need to make/mod the oil pan if I remember right).
I agree, go forced induction GSX-R running E85 and some custom cams to increase the torque to maximize the power before 8-9000 RPMs. Small turbo or blower?
