Okay, so my winter jacket is getting a little too thick down here lately. 70 degrees is awefully warm in a jacket designed for below freezing.

What jacket do you recommend that is good on protection, but I can still breath once it gets up to 95 degrees.

Also, I need to find a good pair of gloves.

    Help me out!

    That's your shop.

Mesh jackets are pretty awesome in the summer.

Gloves are a personal thing but I wear gauntleted gloves, they have a cuff that extends over the wrist. I also buy expensive ones as they are usually the first thing to hit the ground in an incident. The brand I currently have is Held.

The gloves I use are a lot like this.

would a full leather glove be comfortable in the hot heat? I agree that gauntleted gloves are a good choice (thats what I got for my winter goretex gloves), but I am not sure my hands wont be drenched in sweat by the end of a 20 minute ride.

I've been wearing leather gloves for most of my riding 'career', even in the summer in the south of France. Normally the breeze from riding prevents you from cooking your hands in the gloves but yes, things can get a bit sweaty. Still better than the road rash option IMHO.

Reminds me, I need to see if I can find someone to sell me the mesh outer for my bike jacket, otherwise it's going to get ugly in summer around here.

I have perforated leather gloves for the summer. They're pretty comfortable. However, I also wear a partially perforated leather jacket. Yes, I sweat, but if it's 90 degrees plus sweating will happen regardless of gear. Just drink plenty of water.

I've never had a problem with sweaty hands from gloves in summer wearing perf leather gloves (Joe Rocket Sonic) unless I'm doing some serious hard riding.

I love my Rev'It Air jacket, perfect for summer.

It is pricey but I wear a Vanson perforated jacket that zips to Vanson perforated pants. I wear long underwear if it is below 65 as it ventilates very well, it is much cooler than even jeans. It also protects very well. I went over the bars on I-94 at 50-60mph, stood up and gathered my wits. I then continued to work and flew all night wearing the leather pants and boots because I did bang my ankle pretty hard. When I got home the next morning and took off my boot my ankle swelled to twice it's size. The suit has a minor scrape from that fall.

I'm with Boxhead Tim. I've worn full gloves in the dead of summer. My hands never felt "cooked". Now, wearing a non-perf jacket and pants in the summer here in balmy VA wasn't pleasant. Mesh jacket and pants was a revolution. I can't speak to their durability during a crash but they're so comfortable I hope like hell it's worth it.
