Kudos on wearing your gear. How's the noggin? that's a pretty good ding on your helmet.

The helmet hit hard. Skidded along the ground quite a ways. Really, the right hand got it the worst. I think my thumb went straight into the pavement and bent back. It was really swollen last night. Its coming down a bit to day. I'm keeping it packed in ice. Work tomorrow will be interesting.

Good to see your all right, gear is expendable, your not. Time to call the insurance company.

Sure you didnt break anything. Next thing you know, your thumb will be backwards.

I waited a summer to get a surgery done to my thumb...

I had torn my ulnar collateral ligament, I was told I was pretty close to the window of being able to do anything, but it's a very common thumb injury. Felt like no matter what I tried to do my thumb would not go back into place. Swelled a lot and got purple.

When I first went to the hospital I was told I was fine so I thought I was a wimp and should man up. I did... But if I hadn't, I suspect healing would have been quicker and more complete.

Glad your alright... But if you are able to, see a hand specialist, thumbs are... Useful.

I'm going to a doc in a box after work today. I need piece of mind.

I hope the doc is as cute as the one I got last time I was in.

"The rash didn't show up anywhere else?"
"Nope" "Are you SURE?" fights back the urge to whip it out and say, "Yep, see!"

I should be OK. Sprain and impact injury. No breaks. No fracture. I need to get back to them in 10 days if the joint isn't relatively normal or it seems out of alignment.

Look at it this way. It usually costs about two grand to say the words "Emergency Room". Your gear did the job and I'm glad you're okay, by and large. Might be worth sending a quick note to your helmet/glove/jacket mfgs and say "thanks"... I'm sure they'd appreciate it.

That's not a bad idea. I'm sold on Arai. I doubt I'd bother looking at any other brand. The Sliders pants and gloves were close outs so I'm not sure if they're around anymore. But, yeah, they definitely worked.

Good job being geared up! I once had a major standoff with my passenger (wife) not wanting to wear gloves on a hot day. It took about 5 minutes before she realized I was not mounting up without gloves on her hands.

Very nice!

Are these machine washable? They look like it, but I couldn't tell in the description.

I almost went with the sliders myself. But I really don't like riding wearing hot sweaty pants, and it gets stink'n hot and humid here.

I went with these instead. Very vented, with a zip in waterproof liner, and a second zip in insulated liner. They also had a much better sizing selection. http://www.jafrum.com/Shop-By-Brand/Detour/Detour-8504-Mesh-Motorcycle-pants-with-CE-Armor

I have visions of wearing shorts under them, and just unzipping them when I get to where I'm going.

I always washed them in cold and let them air dry. I like the fact that they don't look like motorcycle pants. Incognito, if you're into that sort of thing.

The irony is I replaced them with full on textile riding pants from Icon. $50 Craigslist score.

I my self use TourMaster Venture textile over pants with and without the insultated linner with full CE cert armor but that mostly due to my local and that I like to ride in the cold weather and the hot weather hell I'd ride year round if I didn't have a van for work.
