I have two pre 1980's bikes sitting in my garage and was thinking about redoing the wiring. Do universal wiring harness's exist for bikes like the do for cars? Painless / E-Z, etc.

As far as I know, they do not. What kind of motorcycles are they?

I'm surprised painless doesn't have a universal "chopper" harness...

As was I, I think I may have found one here
Bikes are a 1976 XS500 and 1977 CB400F.

You can certainly get that kit, but as simple as those two bikes are I'd say just rewire them the way I did my XS: get the wiring diagram, remove anything you aren't going to use, get replacement plastic 'hardshells' (easily found) and get a universal fuse block. I think I have ~$55 in rewiring mine.

You may not be so lucky with the Yamaha, but Honda is pretty good about supporting older bikes - you may be able to buy new wiring from the dealer.
Personally, I'd get a factory wiring diagram and go through the originals. If they're really cut up, you can probably get a good used harness.
