Specifically, what to do with leather riding pants? The jackets are easy to hang up, but the pants end up piled on a shelf in the closet. is there a better way? The armor and general stiffness of the pant legs really makes the pants fit poorly on the shelf.

This might work.

A regular pants hangar probably won't have the strength to hang heavy leather pants. Something beefier, or hanging them over the bar of the jacket's hangar, will probably work better.

There are several companies selling hangers specifically designed for motorcycle leathers, I see them advertised in the back of motorcycle magazines all the time.

You might be able to talk your local shop into selling you a hanger from a suit they sold. I know we used to have tons of them taking up space, and new gear always comes with them.

I use one of those hangers that has a metal band that slides it over the plastic clip. Similar to one of these:
The pants and jacket are on the back of my bedroom door with their own hook.

Yes. There not cheap but you'll never need to replace it.
