I have a line on a Ruckus for a good price. It is a 2006 and scouring for one in the past, I know the older ones didn't have as much get up and go as the newer ones. Any Ruckus experts out there know what the cutoff year for the older and slower models is?

    What's considered a good price for a 2006?

Have you seen the pricing on a Big Ruckus?

Its north of a new Ninja 250.

It's non Ruckus related but I found a line on a 98 Yamaha Zuma for a good price.. How are these compared to a Ruckus?

I've got a 08 Zuma (with the throttle stop mod done) and it'll haul my 250lb butt around at 40mph or so on level ground. Fun little scooter. And I managed to put myself in the hospital with it (really). Nothing a little metal and a few screws couldn't fix. I considered a Ruckus too but decided the two stroke was the way to go.

    Awesome.

I had a 50cc 2 stroke with pipe, and weights. It would do 50 mph.

I've done some thinking and I think i'm going to hold off on getting a Ruckus or Yuma for now. I am considering taking the msf and getting my bike license to get something bigger than a 50cc that will be easier to keep up with traffic in..

I have been pondering the Big Ruckus once I can find one cheap enough. Is 10k miles on one too much?

I'd worry more about the former maintenance, rather than the mileage.

Sort of an update: I have emailed the seller of the Big Ruckus twice and no reply so i'm ready to bag it. Since then, I have a line on a 93 Honda 250 Nighthawk for under a song. 13k miles on it and regular maintenance. Suitable contender for first foray into two wheels?

Absolutely! Decent performance and handling, and very good gas mileage. Light enough to handle easily, but big enough to keep up with most traffic. Not quite big enough for a lot of highway(interstate) use, but enough for everything else. At a good price, what's not to like?

Perfect first bike. Especially if you're someone's wife.

Seriously, though, those are what they use for the Motorcycle Safety Training Course around here.

Somewhat of another update but that Nighthawk I was going after was sold. I'm going to take the msf course first and then make a decision on what to get. It will either be a Nighthawk 250 or a Ninja 250..

Joe, if you want a Ninja250, mine may be available (if your BABE08 team mate doesn't take it, he will decide after his MSF course this month). It is local and needs nothing. Let me know...
