    Awww E36 M3, loudes13 I think I'm in love!

How's it do on the highway? I've been kicking around the idea of a Husky or a Duke 690, but I want to hear 'Yeah, it will do fine for about 30 miles on the interstate.

On my XR400 (not super Moto) It is good for a day of riding with breaks. I have ridden from Newport beach to Rancho Mirage(about 2 hours) to pick up a truck, but my butt hurt for a while afterword. My DRZ has more padding on the seat and would do better at longer distances. 30 mile trips are easy. Hardest thing you would have to do is keep the front wheel down.

That said, it depends on how much padding is on the seat. My CBR600RR with the original seat hurt just as much on the same distance as the XR. Change the seat to a corbin, and I can ride all day long with no problem.

My uncle put 120mi/day on his klr650, the only mod was trimming the front fender back to remove the aerodynamic bar shake above 70. He said it overheated on slow trails, though.

electrical panel, landlords fault, but we had only been in the garage a week and the renters insurance hadnt kicked in, plus I had liability on it since it was an 800 buck bike and was like......24 at the time with tickets so full coverage was the cost of the bike per year

it was 87 too, the odd first years, better looking imo than the 88-07's though :)

The SV is a blast to ride, very smooth, competent handling, especially after I put on forks with racetech gold valves and springs up front and semi dialed them in

rear shock sucks though, Im going to replace it with a GSXR 1000 unit.

Its pretty quick, its not literbike I4 fast though of course, and wheelies less than you would think

but I got it in October and the weather here blows, so I only got to put like......700 miles on it.

Sounds like pure sex though, only bike I like as much or more is my buddies VFR800 with a full 2Bros system on it

currently it does this on decell :)

That's unfortunate, as the VFR800 is ALSO on my list.

hehe, I think it feels a lil more nimble than my friends VFR

    and its not a VFR

a VFR is a small step away from a goldwing

    Sweet new forum!

    My current ride;

'99 M900; last year of the carb'd Monster

And this e36 m3 pile; '77 CB550F Supersport. Will be salvaged as a cafe bike, since it's thoroughly trashed at the moment.

Previously bikes; '96 GS500E. First bike. Stripped it down, built it back up, rode it, hated it, sold it.

'89 Honda Hawk GT. Fantastic bike; I will own another one. Sold it to buy the Ducati.

Funny, a buddy of mine started out on a Hawk and then sold it for a Duc too.

1973 Honda XL175. Best pic I have right now. It's currently in my parent's garage waiting for me to find time to ride again. Bought it running for $50 and a box of T-5 transmission parts (mostly junk). Dude I bought it from found it leaned up against a barn in N. Georgia for the last decades. All he did was clean up the carb and change the oil. It's not fast, but it's a fun bike.

30 hwy miles would be tough on mt butt. SM have pretty hard seats. An aftermarket seat is available for about $400. The KTM Duke 690 (the new one) is slightly heavier, slightly more powerful, and has a better seat. Some people can handle the seats, some can't.

I swapped sprockets for better hwy manners within a week or 2 of owning my husky. I still have enough low end torque to goose the back end out in 3rd gear.

The ktm 690 SMC has slightly better performance, same weight, 10 more hp. '06 & '07 SM610's are available for $5k-6k, so it's tough for me to justify the smc for about 30% more.

    Hrrmmm...Something to think about.

I like the idea of a SM. Simple. I'm not a big horsepower nerd, so I think ~60hp would be just fine, but the "lots of legroom, upright position" really gets me going.

My highway stints are short. Drive to work, back. To friend's house, back. I see no need to have anything more than a SM, but I'm a largish (6' ~250) guy and I don't think 40hp is gonna do it.

    Are you sure that's a '77? It looks like a '75 or '76.

You guys have me poring over craigslist looking for cheap old motorcycles now. Since cheap old motorcycles are orders of magnitude cheaper than cheap old cars, I might actually be able to afford some of these.

They are out there, that's for sure. :)

Cheap old motorcycles tend to get less cheap as the temperature goes up.

The SV1000 is pretty nice, but your buddies vfr800 is faster! Really though when I rode it I was surprised how tame it really was. It was fast and great fun don't get me wrong, but I to was surprised how un-wheely prone it was.

    This is my Ride.

It on the other hand is wheely prone.
And since you crushed the Grand Am, I think I will now refer to it as the purple man missle.

Alot of Diverse Really nice rides on here.
