I discovered that thin plywood makes an AWESOME mockup/core material.
You can cut it with a hand saw or any power tool, bend it with a steam iron, bond it with wood glue, lay up fiberglass over it, and if you screw up you're out... fourteen bucks for a whole 4'x8' sheet.
Anything thicker isn't so ridiculously easy to work with.
