I'm pretty sure we bought a little cannister of the stuff off Amazon for a project last winter. I don't remember it being exorbitantly expensive.

Our local bee keeping supply store sells a 1 pound brick for about $7-8

I've got a whole bunch of frames in the shed with wax. Find a beekeeper.

Sewing store. Used to be able to buy it in cakes, though it has been a looong time since I've been in a sewing store.

Sewing store, or maybe someplace that sells sailing or climbing gear, as it's used to for whipping rope ends.

Toilet wax seal. I think they are actually vegetable wax now but available and cheap.
