I recently did a HPDE at Barber Motorsports Park. Barber is pretty hard on the left front tire so my question is - Is it safe to rotate a directional tire (Nitto NT555) from the left side to the right side for my next event? I know it wouldn't be a good idea if it rains, but is it ok otherwise?

I've "heard" that it is OK on dry pavement. A better idea is to swap it on the rims. I've got a friendly tire guy that does it for me for free.

We have done that with some of our Lemons tires. We didn't notice a difference.

Some have a weird superstition about the belt taking a set or something like that, I've yet to see any proof of this.

I tried it once with my dunlop. Honestly I wouldn't recommend it at all. I felt some unforgettable wobbles in every corner I enter.

I too avoid directional tires at all costs. That being said I would just flop them.

Nick is correct, try to avoid directional tires, but most performance tires are directional I believe nitto tires do offer performance tires that aren't directional.
